Monitor / Screen Problems, need help? Compaq computer , XP?
Alright, I use Windows XP with a Compaq Presasrio. NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE (already updated drivers online), and something called pci exrress slot. my monitor is HP vs17e.
so, my monitor i turn it on for like one or two seconsd and then the screen goes totally black, sound still comes out but the screen is black. if i turn off the monitor and re turn back on it it does same thing. i don’t understand why it’s doing this. i made sure resolution of monitor wasfactor default , updated drivers, etc… still does’t work. I might have to call computer person, does anyone have any idea what the problem could be on it? This is annoying as hell
Also i removed any software like webcams etc.. that may cause problem
and i checked for viruses etc.. and my computer is clean
sorry if spelling may be odd in this, i typed while the screen was black

Well i don’t know how you can see this if the screen is black but maybe it was a driver you installed may be you could start by rolling the updates back oe by one to see if this will fix it otherwise i can’t be of any help.Hope you get it worked out!:)

Ok, tell me how you did a virus scan when you could not see the screen?
It could be the RAM. Remove all of your RAM sticks and clean the contact with a pencil eraser. Put only one RAM stick back in and try if it still the same change slots. Note: turn off machine and ground yourself before working on your machine.

Upgrade RAM

Faulty RAM wouldn’t stop the display on a monitor???

Try the monitor on another PC, if it works then it’s the card or cable.
If it doesn’t, it’s the monitor.

Try a different monitor, if it doesn’t work it’s the card or cable.
Try another cable, if it works, it’s the cable.
If it doesn’t, it’s the card.
